Pet friendly Holidays in Australia and New Zealand

We have a number of pet friendly campers available when road tripping with Apollo. We love responsible pet owners, with their dogs that are well socialised and properly cared for. These guidelines are for Motorhome holidays in Australia and New Zealand.

Your responsibilities at booking

You must notify our reservations team when making your booking that you’ll have your dog with you. Not all vehicles can cater for dogs. If you have booked a vehicle via a third party and want to add a pet, please contact us directly so we can check if your vehicle is approved for fur babies. If changes are required, additional charges may apply and you can pay these directly with Apollo.

Some branches are not suitable places to bring your dog when picking up or dropping off your motorhome. Please check with the Apollo reservations team directly on 1800 810 117 or info@apollocamper.com.au

All dogs must be registered and you may be required to show proof of registration at time of booking or at the branch when picking up your vehicle.

Please be aware on busy rental days, your pet may be outside the branch for over an hour and is required to be attended by the owner at all times. We would recommend picking up the vehicle before bringing your pet to the branch.

Picking up on or after 1 April 2024 is a pet cleaning fee of $299. This is to clean the motorhome that little bit more for the people unlucky enough to not be travelling with their fur babies. If the motorhome requires further cleaning as a result of not looking after your pet and our motorhome well enough for the next traveller, an additional charge may be applicable. Please just let us know at the branch as soon as you can if you foresee any issues.

When booking your campsites throughout your holiday, please check whether the sites allow dogs.

Your responsibilities at pick-up and drop-off

We recommend, for your pet’s comfort, you do not bring your dog to the branch but if you have to, please check with reservations prior to pick-up.

Please do not bring dogs into the branches at any time. This is for the comfort of other holiday makers and staff.

Dogs must be on a leash at all times and attended to by a person over the age of 16. If you are travelling alone with your pet, please make alternative arrangements to pick up your pet after you have picked up your motorhome.

No dangerous or threatening dogs allowed on the premises and/or any branch at any time.

Animals that are not clean, appear vicious or likely to annoy, threaten or inconvenience other customers will not be allowed on the premises at all and may be asked to leave.

Please dispose of droppings immediately – the branches do not have bags or bins onsite.

You are responsible for your pet at all times.

6 Top Tips For Travelling With A Pet

1. Just as hotels have pillow menus, pack their bedding so they feel at home (and don’t sleep on yours!).

2. The hottest travel accessory is a lead. No matter how well trained your hound is, most holiday parks and events require pooch to walk on a lead at all times.

3. We know your new mobile home is exciting but restrain your fur-friend while driving. You’ll need to BYO harnesses and crates, to keep pooch out of the driver’s cabin.

4. Think mini bar and keep water and kibble on demand. Depending on where you go there isn’t always a pet store to stock up on dog food.

5. Hot cars make for hot dogs (and not the food truck kind), so don’t leave them inside the campervan while you go wandering.

6. Bring all the poo bags. No one likes to be caught short.

We love it when our guests share their pooch pics with us, use the hashtag #petsofapollo to share your images with us and we will feature them on our social pages.

Your responsiblities throughout your road trip

Please refer to the rules applicable in the country you are travelling in.

We do not supply any pet restraints or comfort items for your dog. Please bring your own harnesses/restraints/crates/bowls etc.

Properly restrain your dog whilst travelling. Pets cannot move around inside the vehicle as they can be distracting to the driver. Dogs must not be in the driver’s cabin while driving.

Please don’t leave pets unattended in the vehicle.

Any ‘droppings’ are the responsibility of the dog owner and are to be disposed of properly. We do not supply plastic bags or bins.

No wet dogs in the motorhomes please – for their enjoyment and yours.

When booking your campsites throughout your holiday, please check whether the sites allow dogs.

Any damage to the vehicle caused by the dog as a result of negligence is your responsibility and this is not covered under your liability reduction option.
